Situated about 60 km north of Kristiansand, Evje is a natural center for geological activities. Here you can collect minerals in numerous pegmatite mines, visit several mineralogical museums and rockshops. Additionally there are plenty other activities like wild-water rafting, canoeing, fishing, elg- and beaver safaries, Go-carting or you can enjoy the lovely nature in this area.

Welcome to the 6th. Setesdal Mineralshow.
We welcome visitors to the 6th Setesdal Mineralshow into a world full of shiny crystals, ancient fossils, beautiful jewellery and exciting gift articles in stone.
The show is organized at the premises of the Oddestemmen Steinsliperi and Camping.
Among the exhibitors there will be both professional dealers and hobby collectors presenting their self-collected finds.
The show starts at Friday 29 July 10:00 hours and will last til Sunday 31 July 17:00 hours.
The Fennefoss Geomuseum organizes a Tombola during the show. The museum can be helpfull with information and advice regarding mineral collecting in the area. And finally you can bring your self-collected minerals for identification. The stone-cutting workshop of Oddestemmen Steinsliperi will demonstrate the art of cutting cabochons at later to be announced hours. Jewellery designer Marta Rakowska will demonstrate the manufacturing of her much appraised silver jewellery and offers her work for sale. We try to put together a small exposition of minerals from private collectors and the Fennefoss Geomuseum. In the show café we serve coffee, mineral water, waffles, rolls, sausages and soup. This is the right place to relax and have a bit of good old fashoined rock-talk and meet old and new friends. In the evening exhibitioners and visitors can meet in the café or around the fireplace to relax and talk. On Saturday evening there will be a barbecue at the premisses of the show. (remember to order place in advance) Of course, the Mineralsti which is only 1,5 km from the Oddestemmen Steinsliperi will be open during the mineralshow, and there will be fresh rock to collect in. The nearby Flĺt Nickel mine is open to visitors. This was once the largest nickel mine in Europe and has played a major role in the development of Evje. The upper levels of the mines have been made accessible for visitors, and at regular intervals there will be guided tours into the mine. Not far from Evje you can find the five mines of the Ivelandsgruvene where you can collect minerals againts a reasonable fee. The three major mineral museums in the district will be open at their usual times. Below you will find a number of links with further information about the show and the Setesdal in general.
