The Oddestemmen Steinsliperi is situated in southern Norway, some 65 km north of Kristiansand, in the municipality of "Evje og Hornnes".
The Evje og Hornnes municipality and the neighbouring Iveland municipality make up the Evje-Iveland district, which is known to mineral collectors for its mineral richness.
Every year thousands of collectors and people interested in rocks and minerals visit the area in order to see one of the excellent displays of minerals at Setesdal Mineralpark, Fennefoss museum, and the Iveland collection in the Community center in Iveland.
The abandoned Flåt mine was once Europe's largest nickel mine and is now a cultural monument, with tours in the upper and oldest part of the mine. It is also possible to collect minerals in several of the hundreds of abandoned pegmatite mines.
As a natural base for stone-related activities, Oddestemmen Steinsliperi is conveniently situated in the Evje-Iveland district.
In the stone shop you can see how cabochon-cut natural rock and semi-precious minerals are used in the finest silver jewelry.
The owner of Oddestemmen Steinsliperi has cut gemstones and made jewelry since the early seventies, first in the Netherlands and from 1995 at Oddestemmen, 3 km north of Evje.
A visit to the workshop is possible by appointment.
We also have the largest collection of gem necklaces in Norway.
